Captured on the pavement outside the Peter Jones store on King's Rd, Chelsea in the summer of 2026. There's a terrific visual relationship between the real woman and the enormous advertising figure: similar clothing, the oversized legs behind her, her expression towards me, and that pool of sunlight. A slightly strange coincidence of me spotting the light and shadow at the moment she walked across the space on the opposite side of the street.

About David

David Banes is a British photographer drawn to the quieter, easily overlooked moments of everyday life.
"I shoot with the deliberate discipline of film, taking just 12 to 36 shots per trip. I skip continuous bursts and digital bracketing, relying on single-shot precision. By spot metering, focusing, and recomposing in-camera, I often deliberately underexpose shadows to capture my on-the-spot vision of what the scene could be, rather than just what was there. Shot in monochrome with a red filter and minimal post-editing, each print is an authentic reflection of that artistic instinct."
